Sankha Subhra Das, P. Balasubramanian, Arpita Roy Chowdhury

Abstract

This paper highlights the publication pattern in the field of Library and Information Science (LIS) based on the analytical study of the bibliographic details of journal articles by using 'Scopus' database. Attempt has been made to study the authorship pattern and distribution of articles. Highest article contribution was seen in the year 2014. A total of 203 authors contributed for the period 2007–2017. The degree of collaboration calculated was 0.56. Multi-authored articles accounted 56% which out-weighted the single-authored articles. Since the study was limited within India, hence Delhi topped the list where 27 authors contributed their articles. The articles were classified into 20 subjects where 18 articles were based on E-Resources, followed by LIS Education contributing 12.5%. These findings will help researchers with aspects dealing in collaborative research. Recommendations have been provided to analyse the constraints while accessing literature in Library and Information Science.
