Emerging Technologies in The Field of Library and Information Science: An Overview

Abstract


The advent of the computer and Internet impacted the field of library and information science to a greater extent and libraries are always in the forefront in implementing new tools and technologies to ensure effective and efficient services to the clients. This paper attempts to profile some of the emerging trends and technologies in the field of library and information science such as automation, digitization, consortia, RFID enabled security systems, remote login, Internet of Things (IoT), Big data, makerspaces, library bookmark apps, User-focused interfaces and application, drones, Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain technology, Augmented reality, digital interfaces for print books, etc.
