Steps and Planning in Setting up Digital Libraries and Repositories

Abstract


With the impact of technologies, the format of information is changing rapidly. To use the collection effectively, it is very essential that it should be well managed and organized whether it is traditional library or digital library. The project should be with a plan. Without planning, any project may fail at any stage. This study briefly introduces the Digital Library and Repositories creation. The planning steps are discussed for setting up digital libraries and repositories. The authors highlight the need, purpose and user community, selection of source material, requirements and features of digital library collection, plan approach to digitalization, source requirements, implementation schedule and timeline.
