Impact of Lubricants from Renewable Resources on Industry and Environment
Abstract
Abstract
Increased probability of extinction of world’s fossil oil reserves, raised oil prices and the worldwide approach to defend the environment against pollution, exerted by undisciplined disposal of lubricants have brought greater interest in the development and use of eco-friendly lubricants. Various techniques like physiochemical extraction, thermochemical, and biochemical processes are presently used to develop such eco-friendly lubricants. Vegetable sources continue to be important biomass feedstock in formulation of such lubricants due to the inherent benefits over petroleum based lubricants. This paper takes into consideration the impact of lubricants made from renewable resources on industry and environment.
Keywords: eco-friendly lubricants, petroleum based lubricants, renewable resources
