Documentation in Ayurvedic Clinical Practice: Present Scenario

Smita Arora

Abstract

Abstract
Ayurveda is a science which is practiced since centuries. It is not only limited to Ayurvedic hospitals/clinics and pharmacies on a small/large scales. In spite of this long-term use, there are several issues in Ayurveda which cause some concerns globally as well as locally in India, regarding its usefulness and safety. One of the reasons for this in spite of its long-term use is lack of systematic documentation and scientific publication. Many a times, Ayurveda physicians get a great success in treating some chronic disease but these cases go unnoticed and undocumented, thus limiting the benefit only to a few people. There are a few isolated efforts which are started but many a times a proper format is not followed which makes it difficult to retrieve data or analyze it completely. This paper discusses in brief the importance of documentation and its need in Ayurveda in the present scenario.
