A Review on Polyherbal Formulations used in the Treatment of Autoimmune Disease like Rheumatoid Arthritis

Abstract

This article presents about various polyherbal formulations used in rheumatoid arthritis treatment. RA is a progressive disease, causing inflammation in joints and resulting in painful deformity and immobility especially in the finger, wrist, feet and ankles. It belongs to Non -organ specific class of Auto immune diseases. Autoimmune disease is an illness that occurs when body tissue are attacked by its own immune system. According to Ayurvedic principles, PHF is the one which contains two or more herbs in the formulation which acts synergistically. The medicinal plants with ethnomedicinal values are currently being screened for their therapeutic potential. Further the article represent various RA based PHF and the marketed formulation available for it.
