Abstract

Abstract
Several herbal immune modulators are used by the present generation to boost the immunity and prevent disease episode. Fundamentally, the immune modulators boost the phagocytic ability of phagocytes and thereby destroy the antigens. Myeloperoxidase (MPO) produced by the phagocytes is largely implicated to the phagocytic ability of phagocyte. It means, the herbal immune modulators are expected to increase the production of MPO. The excess MPO is known to worsen several auto-immune conditions. The present study reports the ability of a herbal drug boost the phagocytosis at the same time also inactivate the MPO that are released by the phagocyte. The poly-herbal nature and diverse pharmaceutical effect of different medicinal herbs are postulated for the above benefit.
