Herbal and Biopolymer Components: A Way to Effective Wound Care

Suneetha T B, M. B. Honey, Prarthana H P

Abstract

Wound healing is a complicated process wherein the body replaces a damaged tissue by a living tissue and wound dressings are constantly being improved. Varied materials are used to improve the wound healing process. In this regard herbal products and bio polymers have become a focal point of interest. Different herbal components are constantly being explored for their effective wound healing properties like anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial, cell adhesion etc. Studies on these herbal components and their properties have increased because of their lower side effects and efficient wound care management. Biopolymers have also emerged as a game changer bio mimicking effect. Wound healing can be accelerated by reducing the healing time and the inappropriateness associated with it. Various herbal and biopolymer components have been observed which can aid in each stage of wound care. In this review paper, the effectiveness of various herbal components has been discussed
