Sustainability in Technical Education to Create India as a Global Educational Hub
Abstract
Economic and cultural globalization has paved the way for a new era in higher education. In the process, India is looking for reforms in technical education sector. This paper gives a status of present position in India with respect to students’ enrolment and cost of study. Various factors contributing for the fall in standards of technical and management education have been identified and their impact is documented. The effect of foreign universities due to the open door policy of India is mentioned. Importance of faculty sharing, skill based and flexible courses, and industry ready courses have been considered as reforms to be implemented.
