A Descriptive Study on Assessment of Knowledge, Attitude and Practices Regarding Road Safety Rules and Regulations among Vehicle Users in Selected Areas of Chandigarh, U.T.

Abstract


Injuries due to road accidents and collisions have a significant affect in increasing deaths and disabilities day by day. Use of over speed vehicles, violation of necessary traffic regulations have also led to increase in these incidents. The problem of deaths and injury as a result of road accidents is now acknowledged to be a Global phenomenon. A descriptive study was conducted among vehicle users in Chandigarh and 250 vehicle users were selected by systematic random sampling technique. Majority of the subjects had good knowledge related to road safety rules and regulations as assessed by self-structured knowledge assessment scale. The study also revealed that people were having positive attitude towards road safety rules and regulations. The studies observed that majority of the subjects were having excellent quality of practices as assessed by observed practice score. No significant relationship was identified between demographic variables and practice score.
