Abstract

This study seeks to analyze the growth and impact of literature published on public library in Scopus database. During 2001–2016, total 1499 publications were published on public library. The average number of publications published per year was 93.69 and the highest number of publications (126 (8.41%)) were published in 2014. Out of total publications, 628 (41.89%) were produced by multiple authors and 871 (58.11%) by sole authors. Authors from USA have contributed maximum number of publications compared to the other countries and India stood on 16th ranking in terms of productivity in this study period. The most prolific author was Bertol, J.C., who contributed the highest (1.47% (22)) of total publications and received 389 citations followed by Jaeger, P.T. with 1.33% (20) publications and 391 citations, Mcmenemy D. 1.33% (20) and 102 citations. Collaboration Index ranges from 1.52 (2001) to 1.70 (2016) with an average of 1.61 per joint authored paper which implies the research team falls between 3 and 5 in the field of public library.
