Usage of Internet by Students, Research Scholars and Faculty Members of Selected State and Private University Libraries of Haryana: A Study

Abstract


This paper aims to investigate the use of Internet by the students, research scholars and faculty members of four state University libraries and two private University libraries of Haryana, namely, Maharshi Dayanand University Rohtak; Kurukshetra University Library, Kurukshetra; Guru Jambheshwar University Library, Hisar; J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology Y.M.C.A. library Faridabad. The private universities include O.P. Jindal Global University Library, Sonepat and Lingaya’s University Library, Faridabad. Objectives of the study include the awareness level, frequency of use, quality of information, and purpose of use of Internet by the students, research scholars and faculty members. The study revealed that users faced problem of slow speed of Internet connection, difficulty in finding relevant information and the problem of overload of information, and the privacy problem.
