Use of Library Resources and Services by the Students of Sri Bhuvanendra College, Karkala & Mahathma Gandhi Memorial College, Udupi, Karnataka: A Comparative Study

College library has to play a vital role in meeting the multi-dimensional demands of students and faculties for information and knowledge. The main purpose behind this study was to determine the awareness and utilization of library resources by library users of Sri Bhuvanendra College, Karkala, Karnataka and MGM College Udupi, Karnataka, India. In this study, a descriptive survey method was used, using a questionnaire as a data collection tool. 145 library users were selected randomly from Sri Bhuvanendra College, Karkala and MGM College Udupi and managed by a questionnaire, of which 128 (88.27%) questionnaires were completed and returned. The research questionnaires were analyzed by the frequency counts and simple percentages. The findings showed that the users of Sri Bhuvanendra College, Karkala, Library use more books/e-books, journal/e-journals, newspapers/
magazines, and Internet/computer. Based on the findings, recommendations are given to improve the quality of library services and increase the use of library resources.
