Plant Physiology Research in India, Japan, and Germany during 2001 – 2020: A Scientometrics Study

Manendra Kumar Singh

Abstract

This study designed to explore the research collaboration activity of India, Japan, and Germany in plant physiology. Scientometrics and data visualization techniques have been used for analysis. Plant Physiology is divided into related subject subfield for downloading data from the Scopus database. The study used 25766 data of article publications, in this 11132 for Germany, 8108 for Japan, and 6526 for India have been selected for final analysis. Total four objectives have been formulated for the study. These are used to find out the Annual, and Compound Annual Growth Rate, Activity Index, Relative Quality Index, Co-authorship Index, Degree of Collaboration, and Collaboration Index. The Vos-viewer Software has used for the visualization of Co-authorship and Keywords Co-occurrence. The finding shows that, for 20-year period, multi-authorship are dominants on a single authorship pattern. Germany shared the highest 43.20% total publications, Japan 31.46 %, and India shared 25.32%, in total corpus of literature. Analysis shows that the annual growth rate of Germany is higher than Japan and India. In terms of authorship, pattern Japan found the highest CAI (360.7, year 2001) followed by India (292.2, year 2001), and Germany (259.7-year 2003). The Co-authorship calculates to find out research collaboration in scientific community. The VOS-viewer software visualizes various clusters which are based on clusters based on two weight attributes, Link and Total link strength. Co-authorship analysis shows that the Japanese author strongly dominates on Indian and German authors on availability of Total Link Strength, which indicates the research collaboration of the Japanese scientific community. The Co-occurrence of keyword indicates that Physiology is the most occurred research area followed by Metabolism and Genetics, respectively for India, Japan, and Germany
