Various web retrieval tools & sources were consulted in the identification of reference management software. After compiling an exhaustive list of reference management software, their web traffic was measured by Alexa Data Bank to ascertain their global web ranking. Accordingly all social reference management software were listed as per their Alexa rank. As such out of 19, the top 6 social reference management software as per their Alexa rank were shortlisted for in depth study which amounts to 33% sample. This citation and reference is a very hectic work when one has to make different citation styles in vogue. This becomes at times a big hurdle to communicate findings promptly. Besides shared resources, one has written and consulted day in and day out. Thereby bring to notice huge corpus of literature to share within group. Given the utility of social reference management software these are going to be more popular in days ahead.
