The increasing use of alkylamine and alkanol in various chemical and industrial processes encouraged investigation on the thermodynamic and transporting properties of alkylamine, alkanol and their mixtures for obtaining extensive information. Excess molar volume (VE), deviation in viscosity (Dh) and excess Gibbs free energy of activation of viscous flow (G*E) have been calculated from measured densities and viscosities of pure butylamine / iso-butylamine, 1-decanol and their twelve binary mixtures covering the entire composition range at 293, 303 and 313 K. The variation of these parameters confirmed that hydrogen bonded type of interactions are present between the unlike molecules of binary mixtures and also observed that extent of interactions decreases with increase in temperature. Furthermore, the viscosity data have been correlated with the equations of Grunberg-Nissan, Tamura-Kurata, Hind-Ubbelohde, Katti-Choudhari, Bingham, Additive relation of Arrhenius-Eyring and Kendall-Munroe and Katti-Choudhari relation found less deviations with experimental viscosities for both the systems investigated.
