Do Penology traits Respond Differently? A Study in Three Selected Hybrid Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum Mill) Varieties

The response of penology traits to varietal differences was studied in three selected hybrid tomato varieties. The field experiment was conducted at Amibara Farms PLC,a commercial farm that is involved in the production of major lowland vegetables and fruits including tomato. Among the studied varieties, the VeniseF1 tomato variety had demonstrated a significantly early days to 50 % flowering, days to 50 % fruit maturity, days to 90 % fruit maturity and duration of harvest followed by Barnum F1 variety whereas; Riogrande F1 had taken longer days to50 % fruit maturity, days to 90 % fruit maturity and duration of harvest. Based on the results of the experiment, Venise F1 is superior in the penology traits and can be recommended for scaling up tomato productivity across the potential tomato producing areas.
