Canker-induced Shifts in Microbial Diversity for Antagonist Mediated Disease Management: A Mini-review

Citrus canker is a major bacterial disease caused by Xanthomonas axonopodis subsp. citri in acid group of citrus fruits, causing host plant microbiome to undergo structural-to-functional changes in rhizosphere, endosphere and phyllosphere. The paucity of research breakthroughs on these lines makes such elusive and equally complex issue, still clueless to researchers, unless a renewed thought is given to shift our focus from microbe specific function to plant microbiome in response to citrus canker. Authors have made sincere efforts to link citrus microbiome to citrus health with an emphasis on citrus canker, besides highlighting the field success of microbial bioagents to be used as a template for replicated future studies.
