Abstract
Phytochemicals are responsible for medicinal activity of plant species. Hence in the present study preliminary phytochemical screening of medicinal plant Peltophorum pterocarpum was carried out. Qualitative phytochemical analysis of the plant confirm the presence of various secondary metabolites like saponins, terpenoids, steroids, tannins, phenols, alkaloids, coumarins etc. Phytochemical have ability for curing various ailments and possess  otential anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antioxidant activities. The presence of various bioactive compounds confirms the application of P. pterocarpum for various ailments by traditional practitioners.
