Floristic Diversity of Rajura (Maharashtra)

Abstract


Plants are the ornaments that beautify earth. Mother earth is covered by number of plants. They constitute the most important factor in the biological environment that influence man; without exception one can say that human life as we know today, would have been impossible, but for plants. It is important to know plant diversity of a region for the benefit of human race. Plants are the basis of our life; without plants, no man would have ever existed. The floristic investigations are very necessary so as to know the flora of a particular region, so that we may obtain all our requirements from them. We know that plants have their own importance and values like tourism, gardening, forestry, horticulture etc. Human life is intricately linked with the species of plants. Our food, clothes, building materials, medicines, all are derived from plants. Man is bound with culture, tradition and religion; man worships a variety of plants and most of the plants are part of all rituals man performs. This makes man closer to nature and plant science and hence we are engaged in the study of plant science. Plants are boon for humankind hence their description, identification, nomenclature, classification and conservation are need of the hour.
