Management of Nutrient Constraints in Citrus- An Update

L. Devarishi Sharma, Indira Sarangthem, Rahul Sadhukhan, Rojeet Thangjam

Abstract

This review includes management of citrus decline by fertilizer treatment, management of citrus decline by fertilizer treatment, fertilization program based on expert systems, optimal foliar nutrient application, optimal nutrient application in the soil, site specific nutrient management, fertigation, integrated plant nutrient management, integrated soil management and integrated use of nutrient. There are three basic prerequisites for effective citrus cultivation: a frost-free climate, good irrigation water quality, and a sufficiently deep and homogenous fertile soil with good drainage capacity. Significant progress has already been made, from the identification of various nutrient constraints in the field using much improved diagnostic techniques, monitoring methodologies, and much improved fertilizer efficiency, to the remediation of various nutritional constraints by providing a better understanding of the soil-plant relationship.
