Soil Fertility and Plant Nutrition in Khasi Mandarin: Major Developments

L. Devarishi Sharma, Indira Sarangthem

Abstract

Khasi mandarin (Mostly seedling origin with extended juvenile period) is one of the commercial citrus cultivars of northeast India, grown predominantly under rainfed and naturally organic environment, with minimum use of synthetic inputs.Under such nutritionally compromised conditions, identifying the correct nutritional disorders and resort to an effective remediation surmount to quite a challenging task.Authors have made efforts to take stock of works done in the past on these overlapping issues and come out with suggested fertilizer schedule, considering the multiple nutrient deficiencies (Ca, Mg, Zn, B etc.). Conserving rainwater in-situ-would further facilitate the better health of khasi mandarin orchards through better nutrient flow within root zone of khasi mandarin

Keywords

Khasi mandarin, nutritional deficiencies, management water conservation, rainfed cultivation.
