Abstract

Taxonomy is the branch which is concerned with the identification of the plants with their features, this branches has very old roots in the science world, during 15 century Carolus lineus was the pioneer in developing the identification world of the plants, after that many eminent taxonomist p lay great role in the botanical world, classification of the plants is the another significant point which was done in the taxonomy, a number of the plant taxonomist did there work during the 19 centaury. In this era molecular taxonomy was developed with the recent instrumentation.  A taxonomic investigation of the Solanaceae family of the Banasthali Vidhypith and newai region was carried out. A total of the few genera & species of the Solanaceae family were identified & studied, they were collected and identified by the standard flora of the hooker and Cronquist, herbarium sheets were prepared and they were deposited in the herbarium section of the University of Rajasthan. A complete taxonomic account of each species, with their morphologic description, chromosome number, and utilization is presented, some of the most common genera are enlisted as; (A) Solanum nigrum, (B) Solanum spirale, (C) Solanum indicum, (D) Solnum xanthocarpum, (E) Datura metele, (F) Physalis minima, (G) Nicotina pluginifolia.
