Reproductive Allocation in Euphorbia wallichii Hook. f. in Natural Populations of Kashmir Himalaya
Abstract
Abstract
Euphorbia wallichii is an important medicinal plant of Kashmir Himalaya. The study on resource allocation reveals that species allocates maximum resources towards the growth and development of the below ground part followed by aerial part. High altitude populations have more reproductive effort than low altitude populations. Partitioning of resources is not uniform, it varies in different parts of the plant species with different altitudes. The total resource budget per plant were found maximum in low altitude population Hallan (21.2±5). The reproductive effort per plant per plant were found higher at Sinthantop population (13.14) and lowest at Hallan population (11.42).
