Captive Breeding and Study of Numida meleagris (Helmented Guinea Fowl) in India
Abstract
Abstract
Numida meleagris—an African fowl commonly called Helmented Guinea Fowl—was recovered from different regions and allowed to propagate in captive conditions. Most of the abiotic and biotic parameters were adjusted and controlled. The laying, mating, harem and pair formation and nesting and hatching were observed. Finally, a relationship was established between ex situ and in situ conservation efforts to know which is more successful in the present scenario. Finally, a local bird house was constructed.
