Histochemical Investigations of Various Parts of Aegle marmelos (L) Corr.
Abstract
Aegle marmelos (L.) Corr. belonging to the family Rutaceae. Unripe dried fruit of Aegle marmelos, is astringent, digestive, stomachic, used to cure diarrhea and dysentery, appetite, indigestion. The leaves are made into poultice and used in the treatments of ophthalmic. Roots are useful in fever, tridosha, pain in abdomen, urinary troubles. It is aromatic tree of Indian origin. In the preparation of natural medicine, almost all parts are used. This plant is also important in ethno medicinal purposes. This paper encompasses a comprehensive review on histochemical and biological aspects of Aegle marmelos (L) Corr. The freehand sections of the leaves, stem and roots were taken and handled in localize components with the respective reagent for histochemical studies, viz. The tissue includes starch, protein, tannin, saponin, fat, glucosides and alkaloids.
