TULSI (Ocimum sanctum) A Comprehensive Review of its Health Benefits

Abstract


Tulsi (Ocimum sanctum) also known as holy basil, is a sacred herb in India and is widely used in Ayurvedic medicine. Due to its therapeutic benefits and capacity to improve health and wellbeing, tulsi, also known as holy basil, has been utilised for millennia. It possesses remarkable analeptic effects that promote healing of both the mind and body. Tulsi is abundant in antioxidants and exhibits anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and immunomodulatory properties. It is frequently used to treat a variety of illnesses, including skin disorders, digestive problems, and respiratory infections. Additionally, it is renowned for its capacity to alleviate stress and anxiety, enhance cognitive function, and support longevity. The adaptable herb tulsi comes in a variety of forms, including tea, pills, and extracts. It can also be applied topically for skincare purposes or used in aromatherapy to induce relaxation and reduce stress. Extensive research has indicated numerous health benefits associated with tulsi, including its ability to reduce inflammation, improve cardiovascular health, and lower the risk of certain types of cancer. Furthermore, it has been found to positively influence the immune system, thereby bolstering overall health and wellness. In conclusion, Tulsi is a potent herb offering a broad spectrum of health benefits. Its versatility and effectiveness have made it a popular choice among those seeking to enhance their overall health and well-being.
