Role of Unani Drugs in Minor Ailments of Pregnancy: A Literary Review

Abstract


Pregnancy is a wonderful experience in women’s life. During pregnancy, there are progressive changes occurring in the body which interfere with routine activities of the women. Identification of these ailments and their management in time reduces the stress. It is necessary to keep in mind that a successive outcome depends on continued supervision which starts with the pregnancy and ends in puerperal period. Inadequacy of one cannot be compensated by the other. Counseling should be done; but unfortunately, only a small percentage of women take the advantage of counseling. In Unani system of medicine, several herbs for oral as well as local applications are documented by ancient physicians for the management of disorders occurring during pregnancy. This literary review paper focused on Unani herbal management of minor ailments during pregnancy.
