Powder Microscopy of Medicinal Plants Used under Brahat Panchmool Group of Ayurveda

Abstract


ABSTRACT
Brahat Panchmool a collective name is attributed to the combination of roots (mool = roots) of five (panch = five) medicinal plant species, viz., Aegle marmelos, Oroxylum indicum, Gmelina arborea, Clerodendrum phlomidis and Stereospermum suaveolens. It forms a part of the group Dashmoola. The present communication provides diagnostic powder microscopic characteristics of Brahat Panchmool that may be used in identification of these drugs as well as their presence in poly-herbal powdered formulations.
