Future Prospects and Economical Impacts of Algae Derived Biofuel

Seema Dwivedi, Gyanendra Singh, Mohd. Nawaz Khan

Abstract

The economic strength of a country depends mainly on the fuel, which is depleting at a spontaneous rate and also polluting the atmosphere, making it incompatible for the human survival and growth of other living beings. Looking at the current scenario, crucial efforts have been initiated in the areas of biofuels like biodiesel, bioethanol etc. The diesel is used worldwide at a very massive frequency in different sectors such as agricultural, industrial, and commercial which is major cause of concern. These facts have led the researchers in developing the next generation biofuel from an alternative source like microalgae. Microalgae are prokaryotic or eukaryotic photosynthetic microorganisms which can survive under very extreme conditions and have property of self-restoration and also the growth rate of microalgae is quite swift. The various species of microalgae and the process and techniques involved in the harvesting as well in the production of green energy from the microalgae and its potential economical impacts and future prospects are summarized in this review.
