Abstract

Every fifth person in our country is an adolescent who may be eligible to contribute to the social, economic, and political progress of the nation. Vocational education is an instrument in transmitting necessary knowledge and skills to these young adults so that they are prepared to survive as well as flourish in today’s advanced technological era. This paper discusses at length the need for vocational education in our country so that we are able to make use of the demographic dividend and there is no dearth of skilled workforce. There are various issues concerning the effective implementation of vocational programs and need to be addressed. The paper covers the possible suggestions for improving the present situation of vocational education and training.
