Abstract

This paper discusses in detail all the issues related to the development of Prototype Model of newspaper clippings in academic library using ‘Greenstone’ open source software. An experiment collection has been developed to demonstrate the various steps involved in the development of newspaper clippings. The entire process of developing such collection in Greenstone explains how librarians use it to create and customize such newspaper clippings, through an end-user interface, they add newspaper clippings and metadata to collections, create new collections and build collections and put them in place for users to view. This model will prove an effective tool to LIS community in the development of News clipping collection on Greenstone Software windows platform.
