Use of Information Resources and Services in PVP College Library, Kavathe Mahankal: A Study

This study has been undertaken to identify how the information resources and services of library are being utilized by the faculty members and final year students of Padmabhushan Vasantraodada Patil (PVP) College Library, Kavathe Mahankal. A well-designed questionnaire was used for collecting opinions of the library users about usage of information resources and services. The investigator distributed 49 questionnaire to the permanent faculty members and 470 to final year students of Arts, Commerce and Science streams. The present study exhibits and explains the various aspects of library resources, frequency and purposes of visit, utilization of library services, assesses, the behavior of library staff, the difficulties in locating the desired materials by the users. Recommendations from the study are: subscribe new e-resources, improve internet speed, library should improve physical facilities such as toilets, proper seating arrangement in women’s study rooms; proper lighting and ventilation, and speed up and complete the automation of services, etc.
