Abstract

The transformation of libraries in modern times is a burning issue today. Drastic changes have occurred in the publication pattern, user demand, and information dissemination medium. We are witnessing several changes in traditional libraries as in working systems, library service patterns, and infrastructural and technological up-gradation. This paper discusses the transformational challenges faced by academic and research libraries. The present libraries aim to cope with unavoidable changes and to be ready as next-generation libraries. The traditional working system in academic libraries is changing gradually and the transfiguration process facing several challenges.
