Abstract

Abstract

OPAC 2.0 is the application of Web 2.0 to online library catalogues and is also referred to as next generation or 21st century catalogues OPAC 2.0, library users may add comment or rating to records of books they have borrowed from the library. The aim of this study is to provide an overall picture of the application and characteristics of OPAC 2.0 technologies in state university libraries in India. The author used the observational method of visiting library websites of state university libraries of India. A total 348 library websites were viewed to see whether OPAC 2.0 tools have been implemented. It was noticed that only 23 Indian state university libraries were found to be using OPAC 2.0 technologies.
