An Introduction to Social Media Tools for Academic Libraries

Abstract
As the digital environment continues to become more pervasive in the libraries, academic libraries are also adapting to ensure that their services remain relevant to users’ needs and requirements. The academic libraries are transforming their spaces into new environments with the information needs of the 21st century users. Now-a-days libraries are using social media for providing reference transactions, build online communities, receiving and resolving queries and complaints of their clientele. This paper discusses and provides exploratory study investigating on the use of various social networking and social media tools that are of great significance to the present day libraries.
