Bibliometric Analysis of an Open Access Journal ‘Fixed Point Theory and Applications’ (2006–2010)

Abstract
This article presents bibliometric analysis of open access scholarly journal ‘Fixed Point Theory and Applications’. The analysis covers the journal’s articles from the year 2006 to 2010. The bibliometric analysis looks into the issues like total number of articles published during given time period, citation analysis, authorship pattern, forms of documents cited, year-wise distribution of citations, geographical distribution of contributions, authors with maximum contributions and journal metrics. The findings reveal that 58 issues with 418 articles were published during the period 2006–2010 and highest numbers of articles (180) were published in the year 2010. The journal contained 7716 citations during 2006–2010 and average number of citations per volume was 1543, average number of citations per issue was 18.45, maximum contributions were two authored (184) articles, highest number of articles (114) were received from China during the given study period. The analysis reveals some positive results with respect to research advancement in Asian countries, as maximum number of articles were received from Asia. The study observes that the journal, ‘Fixed Point Theory and Applications’, is contributing significantly for the growth of scholarly literature in mathematics. The journal also explores the significance of mathematics for the development of related disciplines.
