Abstract

The paper describes the synthesis of Carbamazepine. It is used as an anticonvulsant and antiemetic agent. It is also used in the treatment of pain associated with trigeminal neuralgia, often within 24 to 48 hr. The synthesis of Carbamazepine was carried out using four different hydrotropes. The effects of hydrotropes on yield, rate constant and activation energy at various temperatures and concentrations were studied
