Abstract

Abstract

Six substituted chalcones have been synthesized by condensing benzaldehyde derivatives with acetophenone in dilute ethanolic sodium hydroxide solution at room temperature according to Claisen-Schmidt condensation. In addition, four of Schiff bases have been prepared via imine condensation between substituted benzaldehyde firstly with (3) 2-aminophenol, secondly, with phenylhydrazine. Moreover, study the efficient of synthesized compounds as antibacterial agents were evaluated. The structures of the synthesized compounds were confirmed by the melting points depending on known literature. The new in our research is that we have evaluated and compared these compounds against some kinds of bacteria.
