End of Life Tire Pyrolysis Current Status and Opportunities
Abstract
Recycling of end-of-life tires (ETL) is a concern for local and national governments due to associated severe environmental hazards. Use of automobile vehicle is increasing, because of surging demand in the emerging market. Governments are enforcing strict tyre disposal regulations. Several have been put forth to address the disposal issue. Pyrolysis- is the latest technology, which leads the decomposition of polymeric moiety at elevated temperatures under inert conditions. Pyrolysis process converts scrap tires into gaseous products and liquid fuels Other businesses, including the chemical, transportation, and energy sectors, use these products. The output products of pyrolysis process are dependent on several factors i.e. quality of input material, Rubber Hydrocarbon Content (RHC) of the scrap tire and selling value of the products. As per the current and past market conditions based studies suggest that pyrolysis plants can profitably as independent operations. This article briefly describes basics of ETL pyrolysis, different products and economics of this technology.References
