Prateek Pandey, Anil Sharma, Hari Om Sharma, Manmohan Sharma, Girish Vyas

Abstract

The present review focuses regarding the benefits of herbal ingredients in the formulation of sunscreen. Sunscreens are called as sunburn or sun blocker creams. There are three different forms of ultraviolet radiation: ultraviolet A, ultraviolet B, and ultraviolet C. The various forms of ultraviolet light are thoroughly reviewed in this page. Its function is based on their potential to absorb, scatter the rays from sun. Herbal cosmetics are also known as the products which acts as beautifying agent as well as have physiological functions like healing, appease, conditioning, appearance and increasing characters because of the presence of herbal ingredients.” Sunscreen formulations that either absorb the radiation or reflect it are used to protect our skin from UV rays. The damaging consequences on skin, such as DNA damage, skin cancer, and photoaging, are explained. The various formulations of sunscreen and the substances used for sun protection are described in the current review. To determine effectiveness Calculation of the sun protection factor is done. Detailed explanations of the formula used to determine the Sun Protection Factor value are provided. They are ecological, effective & have good purity, stability, well-being, cost effective and easily found in large variety of plants.
