Management of Warm Kabid Haad (Acute Hepatitis) by Unani Herbal Medicine

Abstract

Hepatitis, is a general term refers to inflammation of the liver, may be due to various causes mostly by the virus which leads to hepatocytes damage with subsequent cell death. Symptoms include fatigue, anorexia, nausea and right upper quadrant tenderness. In Unani system of medicine acute Hepatitis is known as Warm Kabid Haad has been described under the heading of Jaundice. For the management, several single as well as compound drugs are recommended by ancient physicians. Pre-clinical and clinical trials have been carried out on these drugs for their safety and efficacy in the management of liver disorders especially hepatitis and are proven antioxidant, anti-fibrotic, antiviral and anti-carcinogenic. This paper highlighted the beneficial effect of Unani herbal medicine in Warm Kabid Haad.
