Abstract

The use of acoustic Doppler current profilers (ADCPs) from a transferring boat is now in many instances used technique for measuring streamflow. The technology and methods for making ADCP-based discharge measurements are exceptional from the science and techniques used to make ordinary discharge measurements with mechanical meters. Although the ADCP is a precious device for measuring streamflow, it is only correct when used with suitable techniques. This file affords instruction on the use of ADCPs for measuring streamflow, to subject information collection, and sooner or later to post-processing of the gathered data. Acoustic Doppler technological know-how and the contraptions currently (2008) accessible also are mentioned to spotlight the advantages and boundaries of the technology. More in-depth, technical explanations of how an ADCP measures streamflow and what to do when measuring in moving-bed stipulations are introduced in the appendixes. ADCP customers need to comprehend the suitable methods for measuring discharge from a shifting boat and why these procedures are required, so that when the person encounters uncommon field conditions, the approaches can be tailored besides sacrificing the accuracy of the stream waft size data.
