Abstract

Objectives: The present work deals with the impact analysis of missile over an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), the missile is made to strike on the UAV with various angles on the different locations and structural behaviour of the UAV will be investigated through the intended work. Novelty: There is very limited data concerning structural failure modes caused by impact and explosion loading on an UAV due to missiles. Method: The research is being focused on the structural deformation/failure/damage of an UAV by missile attack at first, creating a 3-D Model of UAV by using CATIA V5R20. Then, meshing will be done using ANSYS Workbench and complete crash analysis is carried out with the help of LS-DYNA software. Outcome: The outcome of this research work is understanding the structural behaviour of the materials i.e. von-mises stress and total deformation during impact for various cases. It could be used to improve the behaviour of material for impact load in order to overcome the further identified challenging issues.
