Designing of a Simple, High Performance Nitrogen Laser for Laser Induced Florescence (LIF) Studies

N. Shafudah, Shyam Singh

Abstract

Laser is a very important tool in various disciplines. Due to high costs in other traditional lasers such as Nd: YAG laser, many schools, colleges and universities in Namibia could not afford to buy or maintain expensive lasers. Therefore, we propose a design for construction of a simple Nitrogen laser for Laser Induced Florescence (LIF) studies in Namibia (UNAM). The N2 laser design will be constructed in the structure of a Blumlein circuit to yield for high performance for the study of LIF. Different parameter such as; power output, pulse rate and pulse duration will then be further characterised of the purpose of the study.
