Abstract

Abstract

The present study deals with the floristic studies carried on polygonaceae family in the flora of Bhopal. Various field visits were conducted during March 2017- March 2018. All the members belonging to family polygonaceae were collected and identified in fruiting and flowering stages. The present study reports 5 species under 4 genera belonging to polygonaceae. Labeled Voucher specimens were deposited to the herbarium of MVM College Bhopal for future reference. The study would be useful to the botanists, taxonomists and conservation scientists to derive policies for the better management and conservation of the plant resource in the country. All collected species have been described with their scientific name, common\local name, phenology, chromosome no distribution and their medicinal uses. Further research includes photochemical and pharmaceutical investigation must be carried out on these species that lead to the drug discovery benefitting mankind.
