Abstract

Growing access and demand of electronic information, the academic libraries tend to operate their services in computerized network environment. The libraries are rapidly coming out from their hybrid library identity and functioning in fully web-based digitized infrastructure on the surge of ICT. The modern web-based digitized appearances of academic libraries are may be potentially vulnerable for range of cyber security threats and attacks due to basic ignorance and security flaws in network device, configuration, working culture, lack of awareness. In order to bring under the notice some common security flaws, vulnerabilities, associate threats and possible harms, the paper attempt to discuss with recommendations. In this context the basic structure of web based digital library management system and information access through user interface has been discussed. The librarian’s concern and most common attack such as command injection, Cross-site Scripting (XSS), improper user authorization and authentication, data security and physical access security explain with recommendations.
