Abstract

This paper deals with Information Seeking Behaviour of Faculty Members of Senior Colleges in Malshiras taluka: A Study. The man is a thinking animal so various kinds of thought and ideas are created in his mind. This human mind is a generator of ideals. These thoughts and ideas are based on certain facts which are derived by continuous observations and experiences. When these facts hold the test of time, they become data, i.e. something which occurs, which can be seen, felt and observed. When these data are arranged in an organized manner and presented, told or passed on to someone, become information. Hence, we can say that information originates from an idea that creeps in mind of a man as a result of observation. Information seeking behaviour is the main trend of human mind. With the growth of information deluge, each one needs information of increasing variety and diversity of level, frequency, volume and use. The 77 teachers are the highest numbers and their percentage is 97.4% and their purpose of searching information is to guide the students. The maximum teachers are satisfied with the availability of information resources college libraries with respect to quality and quantity of information resources.
