Abstract
The aim of the paper is to review the webometric development in web impact factor perspective through the literature available in the area. The growth and development of webometric researches has been divided into four categories – webometrics development, webometric analysis, link analysis, and web impact factor analysis; and reviewed accordingly. The paper finds that citation analysis and link analysis have no analogy with each other; significant correlation between the English-language pages and backlink counts; possibility with the information ignorance due to linguistic and geographic barriers that should be taken into account in the development of the Web; and concluded with the phrase that webometric researches must be conducted with caution.
