Synthesis and Characterization of Mn Doped ZnO Nanoparticles by Chemical Precipitation Method
Abstract
Nanosized Mn doped ZnO semiconductor (where Mn 0.5%–2.5%) has been synthesized via a chemical precipitation method using zinc acetate hydrate, MnCl2 in alcoholic medium and utilizing polyvinyl pyrolidone (PVP) as capping agent. A differential thermal analysis (DTA) and a thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA) where used determine the thermal properties of ZnO:Mn. The structural characteristics were examined using X-ray diffraction (XRD).scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and EPR spectra. The powder X-ray diffraction patterns of these samples show the formation of single-phase wurtzite structure. Also, photoluminescence (PL) was used to understand the relation between Mn2+ concentration and the optical properties.
